Shukla Receives 2012 Padma Shri Award
from the Government of India

Dr. Jagadish Shukla, Professor and Chair of the Climate Dynamics Program at George Mason University and President of the Institute of Global Environment and Society has been approved for conferment of the Padma Shri award by the President of India. The presitgious award is conferred in recognition of Shukla's "exceptional and distinguished service in the field of Science and Engineering." The Padma Shri is awarded to citizens of India to recognize their distinguished contribution in various spheres of activity including the Arts, Education, Industry, Literature, Science, Sports, Medicine, Social Service and Public Life. The award will be presented by the President of India at Rashtrapati Bhawan, the Presiden'ts house, in New Delhi. We congratulate Dr. Shukla on this high honor.
